Earthquakes - Dallas Preview

 When asked if there was anything positive about his team's trip to Salt Lake last Wednesday, Frank Yallop's answer was short: "No."
The loss (0-4), the difficulty of playing in the snow and the energy lost just 3 days before an important game against Dallas would be enough to make a coach unhappy. But it was nothing compared to the loss of 2 players.
Ryan Cochrane and Jay Ayres, were were trying to clear a high ball when the two defender's heads bumped into eachother "with a violence I had never seen before", Yallop said. "The noise was incredible."
Ryan Cochrane was at the Team's practice today and looked good even though he had a light session with other injured players. He will not play tomorrow but will probably be back next week to play against the Columbus Crew.
Jay Ayres was not so lucky. Acording to Yallop, his nose is broken, he has serious contusions on the face and may need surgery. He may not be out for the season, but will definitely be missing several weeks.
 Tomorow will be the first game in their new home (Buck Shaw Stadium) for the Earthquakes. After showing good things in the first part of the season, they are back in the Bay Area after 2 very difficult trips to New york (last week-end 0-2) and Salt Lake City (0-4).
Jason Hernandez will prbably move from his lef side to take Cochrane's place and Eric Denton will make his debut in an official match as a left full back. Appart of that, the same team as in the last matches will face Dallas' usual 3-5-2.
Jean Philippe Peguerro seems to have fully recovered from his knee injury. "It's getting better and better every day", he said. "I don't feel it when I'm running, I'm not limping anymore". He will not start the game tomorow but will be on the bench.
