Less than 24 hours after they won an important match against a direct rival for the playoffs (Read SF Seals - LA Legends match report), the San Francisco Seals confirmed and took the 3 points against the Lancaster Rattlers.
The Seals quickly took control of the game which resulted in an early goal which was a remake of the Seals' second goal against LA the day before (watch Saturday's goals on video): Kellan Wilson (Listen to him below) passed the ball to Corey Woolfolk who instantly deflected it into Peter Lovell's run. Lovell, didn't miss the opportunity to beat Lancaster's goalkeeper Zach Brunner. (1-0, 11th)

The Seals then continued their domination. Lancaster seemed to be in danger every time San Francisco took possession of the ball and could only respond with a couple of good long shots. Not enough to really threaten the local team who logically scored two more goals before half time by Kellan Wilson (34th, Assist: Doug Carr) and Peter Lovell (38th, Assist: Wilson) |
3-0, half time. The score reflected the difference between the two teams in the rankings as well as on the pitch so far, but the visitors have at least one quality: they never give up. The Seals started to seem tired of the day before's efforts and, taking advantage of that, Lancaster took control of the game in the beginning of the second half. They missed a few good opportunities but finally started their comeback thanks to Carlos Aguilar (3-1, 59th) |

Seeing that his team was in difficulty, Tom Simpson (Listen to him below) started a long series of substitutions and the fresh players brought some energy to their side. The Seals dominated the rest of the game and Anthony Grillo should even have obtained a penalty (82nd)
However, the Rattlers did not give up and scored a beautiful goal by Miguel Ibarra after a great move and a pass by Aguilar. (3-2, 89th)
The visitors tried everything they could to steal one point in the stoppage time, but the Seals found enough energy to resist and take the lead of the Southwest Division (See rankings below).
The San Francisco Seals play their last 2 two matches at home (USF - Negoesco Stadium) next week-end on Friday against the Bakersfield Brigade and on Sunday against the San Jose Frogs. (See below, the schedule has been recently modified!)
The other Bay Area team lost their two games in a nightmare week-end at Orange County Blue Stars and Southern California Seahorses. The Frogs can not make the playoffs anymore but will certainly be eager to remain undefeated* against their Bay Area rival in a promising derby next Sunday.

* The San Francisco Seals never won against the Frogs.
